Avengers: Endgame movie poster
After the devastating Infinity War, the fate of what's left of mankind is in the hands of the surviving Avengers. The remaining superheroes have resigned themselves to their changed lives, but the arrival of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) brings a glimmer of hope. The task is monumental: defeat Thanos (the voice and motion-capture of Josh Brolin), recover the six Infinity Stones and attempt to change history.

This emotionally-draining blockbuster is the ultimate fan salute. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, along with producer Kevin Feige, have successfully
summed up the last 21 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The self-contained screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely can be enjoyed by everyone. But the more you know about the past MCU movies, the more you'll get out of this amazing adventure. Seeing "Avengers: Infinity War" is a must, since the Thanos and the Infinity Stones story is concluded. Without giving anything away, this magnificent slice of cinema is extremely dark. Tears will be shed. But it is not without humor. Providing some of the comedy is Robert Downey Jr., who leads the way as the wise-cracking, quick-witted Tony Stark/Iron Man. But he also has his serious moments. Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Chris Hemsworth's Thor have rather humorous issues with their lifestyle changes. Also eliciting laughs is the crass furry Guardian of the Galaxy, Rocket - voiced again by Bradley Cooper. Pretty much all of the stars in the world of Marvel are featured here. Paul Rudd's tiny Ant-Man plays a huge part in this plot, yet it's difficult to single out one performance - truly an ensemble acting triumph that should be rewarded come awards season. Everything about this grand spectacle is epic. At slightly over three hours in length, the movie only occasionally slows down. The effects are stunning and Alan Silvestri's music is haunting and memorable. There are many surprises along the way. This time around, stay through the closing credits to pay tribute to everyone involved in this striking production. The fantastic "Avengers: Endgame" entertains with a vengeance. (4/5 CAMS)
