MISS SLOANE

ROG'S VIEWPOINT - One of the top lobbyists in Washington D.C., Elizabeth Sloane (Jessica Chastain) now faces the toughest opponent of her career. She must do whatever
it takes to win at all costs. Directed by John Madden, this political thriller with gun control as the focus moves along at a slow pace until it reaches a surprising twist ending. Jessica Chastain rises above the talky dramatics with a powerful portrayal that demands attention. Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alison Pill, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sam Waterston and John Lithgow co-star in this drama that feels like a politically-charged episode of "Law & Order" (featuring Sam Waterston) - only longer. While "Miss Sloane" may not exceed expectations, Jessica Chastain's performance is worth lobbying for during awards season. ***
