ARRIVAL

ROG'S VIEWPOINT - Linguist Dr. Louise Banks (Amy Adams) and a team of experts are recruited to find out the meaning behind alien spacecraft landings around the globe. If you're looking for action,
go elsewhere. This is an absorbing, thought-provoking piece of science fiction that's bolstered by Amy Adams' stunning performance. Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker are also good as the team mathematician and an Army Colonel. Based on Ted Chiang's short story "Story of Your Life", director Denis Villeneuve maintains a slow pace as the reason behind the alien visitation unfolds. This film has a lot in common with a specific episode of "The Twilight Zone". "Arrival" is the closest encounter with intelligent sci-fi in recent years. ****
